Trade Team Prince Edward Island presented a half day workshop that promoted the benefits and opportunities afforded by CETA.
The well attended workshop was held at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel and featured a knowledge group of speakers on the various aspects of the trade agreement.
Through the improved market access conditions CETA creates, new opportunities in Europe, job creation, and open markets in Europe, the agreement presents many opportunities for Canadian business. Despite these advances, careful preparation is required to enter the EU market which starts with learning about the CETA itself.
Speakers included H. David Plunkett, former Canadian Ambassador to the European Union, Kal Whitnell, Senior Director with the PEI Department of Economic Development & Tourism (presentation), and Jennifer Higginson, Deputy Director with Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (presentation). Local business owners Francis Morrissey from Royal Star Foods and Alex Youngs of Vector Aerospace also spoke of their experience in Europe and how CETA creates new opportunities for their business.
