Trade Team PEI attended the Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global on May 6 – 8, 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. Four companies from Prince Edward Island attended the world’s largest seafood trade fair formerly known as the European Seafood Expo to expand their trade and export capabilities in various European countries.
The delegation included:
- Atlantic Aqua Farms
- Royal Star Fisheries
- Raspberry Point Oysters
- Holland College Canada’s Smartest Kitchen
During the three-day trade fair, each company met with companies in the European region to explore potential exporting and business opportunities. The Prince Edward Island booth was part of a larger Canada presence at the trade fair.
With the introduction of the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) and reduced tariffs in the European market it is important for seafood exporters to attend this fair and gives Prince Edward Island entrepreneurs the opportunity to expand their business in this emerging market.
An Atlantic Canada Night was held on May 5, 2014 to highlight Atlantic Canada’s food and cuisine. Chefs from Holland College’s Canada’s Smartest Kitchen prepared Atlantic Canadian dishes using seafood and agri-food products from this region.
